HORNDEAN - CLUB HISTORY
Horndean Football Club was formed in 1887 - the first recorded game was played
on the 11th October of that year against Red Star of Havant who won the game
1-0.
Until World War 1 all matches were friendlies and on one occasion
the game was controlled by two "umpires" onein each hal of the field!
Shortly after the 1914-18 war, the Club joined the Waterlooville
& District League and it was not until the 1926-27 season, when the Club
was re-formed, that it won the League title - further successes followed - in
seasons 1930, 31 and 32 winning the Trophy outright together with the local
cup.
During the season 1931-32, the late Frank Bryson scored 83 goals,
and during his time at Horndean, he scored a total of 348 goals. Both records
remain to this day. (We could do with him today!!)
In the early years the Clubs teams played on a pitch on Blendworth
Hill, then on ground behind the old workhouse opposite what is now the Good
Intent public house and later in a field behind the Brewer's Arms in Five Heads
Road. Committee Meetings were held in the Brewer's Arms.
The original pavilion was opened in 1948 having been built voluntarily
by the Club members and supporters on a piece of land given by Harry Heath,
whose family to this day have always been generous towards the Club.
More success followed in 1946, 47 and 48 and in the 1949-50
season Horndean entered the Portsmouth League and in 1953-54 they won the Division
2 North title.
A Mr A J Rowe put together a very successful youth side and
in 1961-62 they won every game scoring 125 goals with only 15 against. A number
of these players graduated to the first team which gained promotion to the Premier
Division in successive seasons. After winning the premier title for three seasons,
1969,70 and 71, they were accepted into the Hampshire League Division 4 in 1972
and rapidly progressed to Division 2. They won the double in 1979-80 which included
the Portsmouth Senior Cup at Fratton Park.

LOCKS HEATH - CLUB HISTORY
Locks Heath Football Club was founded in 1894 but prior to that played
as St Johns Chapel team against other local church and chapel teams.
In the early 1900's, most of our competitive football was played in
local leagues such as Gosport and Fareham, Meon Valley and Portsmouth
Leagues.
Locks were accepted into the Hampshire Football League in 1983 and
won promotion to Division 2 in our first season as Division 3 Runners-up.
We then went on to gain promotion to Division 1 in our second season
as Division 2 Runners-up, were Division 1 Runners-up in 1986/87 and
Division 1 Champions in 1990/91. A couple of seasons later we were relegated
to Division 2 but clinched promotion again in 1995/96 as Division 2
Champions. Needing to win our last game of the 1999/2000 season to clinch
the inaugural Hampshire League Premier title, lost 1-0 at Hayling and
had to be content with Runners-up.
In 2002/03 the Reserves came Runners-up in both the Hampshire Combination
Division 2 and the Combination Cup. During our time in the Hampshire
League, Locks won the Freddie Martin Shield, the Portsmouth Senior Cup
and the Hampshire Intermediate Cup.
The Locks Heath Recreation Ground has been our home for more than 70
years. The Club is a section of the Locks Heath Sports and Social Club
that has a Licensed Club House on the site. We have sole use of the
football pitch during the season. We have erected a permanent barrier
around the pitch, two dug outs and in 2002 installed floodlights.
In season 2004/05 we joined the Wessex League in the inaugural Division
2 and finished a creditable 3rd place. The Reserves joined the Wessex
Combination Division 1 East finishing in 7th place.
The season 2005/06 saw us crowned as Wessex League Division 2 Champions
after a consistent season. The reserves at present play in Wessex Combination
League Division 1. We also run one youth side, the Under 18's play in
the Hampshire Youth League Division 1.

MONEYFIELDS - CLUB HISTORY
The Club began its current incarnation back in 1987 having reached to upper
age group in the Portsmouth Lads League, a group of players decided to continue
playing as Portsmouth Civil Service Reserves. Gradually
most of the players moved up to the first team and by 1991 the side had risen
from the Portsmouth League to Hampshire League Division One on the back of three
successive promotions. The Clubs League success was matched
in cup competitions with Portsmouth Senior Cup wins in 1991 and 1992, and Hampshire
Intermediate Cup victories in 1992 and 1993.
After several seasons in the upper reaches of the Hampshire
League, it became apparent that the Club would have to move away from their
home in Copnor Road if they were to progress. After scouring the city for a
new home the Club agreed a lease on the old Moneyfields Sports ground in Copnor,
and so, in 1994, it moved to its current ground and became part of the Club
whose name they now carry.
The Division One years were particularly successful and under
the Management of George Wain and Micky Gee, the Club never finished below sixth
place and clinched the Division One title in 1996-97 by 15 points.Success
on the pitch was matched by extensive ground developments off it thanks to a
National Sports Lottery Grant. New changing rooms, offices and a floodlit all
weather pitch were constructed as part of a scheme to bring the facilities up
to Wessex League standard.
With the requisite developments in place, the 1997-98 campaign
saw a tense battle with Blackfield & Langley to see who would claim a spot
in the Jewsons Wessex League. Although Blackfield just pipped them in the table,
Moneyfields better facilities meant it was they who claimed promotion. The
first season in the Wessex League saw the Club suprise many people by finishing
in sixth position. The next couple of seasons saw the Club post respectable
top ten finishes, but after finishing a disappointing sixteenth in 2000/01,
Messrs Wain and Gee decided to step down after 13 seasons in charge.
Under the Managerial partnerships of Calvin Hore and Terry Arnold/Paul
Gregory, and Craig Stafford and Miles Rutherford, the Club has established itself
in the middle third of the table as well as embarking on a series of runs in
the FA Cup and FA Vase. The Management line up was boosted
during the summer by the arrival of Bobby De St Croix and Alan Smith from Havant
& Waterlooville.

RINGWOOD TOWN - CLUB HISTORY
Few football clubs in Hampshire can boast that they are 127 years old, but an
ancient copy of the old Ringwood Almanac reveal that Ringwood Town Football
Club was formed in 1879. The club is first mentioned in county records in 1886
when it used the title of Ringwood Hornets.
The team was disbanded during the 1914/1918 war and was re-established
in 1918 as Ringwood Comrades, consisting mainly of servicemen returning from
the battlefields.
In 1936 the club reverted to the name of Ringwood Town Football
Club but was disbanded again during the Second World War. In 1946 the club was
listed as Ringwood and Welworthy Football Club but soo reverted back to the
title of Ringwood Town and has played under that name ever since.
The club played at Carvers Playing Fields during the 1950s &
1960s but an ambitious club committee, encouraged by Ringwood Town Council,
laid the foundations for the club to move to the present Long Lane ground.
Successive committees have continued to improve the facilities
at the ground such that the club was able to join the Sydenhams (Wessex) League
in 2004.
Ringwood Town has won the Bournemouth Senior Cup on 4 occasions
and runner up on a further four. In 1980 the club recorded its most memorable
achievement when Southern League opponents were defeated to win the Russell
Cotes Cup. Since then the club was promoted to Hampshire League Division 1 only
to be relegated the following season. The club has had notable success in the
Bournemouth Leagues and in the Bournemouth F.A. Page Croft Cup.
During 2003/4 season the 1st team reached the final of the Hampshire
League Floodlit Cup whilst the reserve team won the Hampshire League Combination
2 Division.
In 2005/6 the 1st team finished 9th and the reserve team 5th
in their respective decision. The re-formed Sunday team won Bournemouth F.A.
Division 3 with an unbeaten league record and a new League record, conceding
only 9 goals in 22 matches.

CLUB HISTORY
The boatmen have a long but fragmented history, running teams from the Woolston
Works as early as 1884, when they are recorded as being refused permission by
the Hants & Dorset FA to introduce fresh players as substitutes at half
time. In March 1887 they were finalists in the first Portsmouth Challenge Cup,
beaten 1-0 by the Portsmouth Association Club. The Club were only beaten twice
in 16 games that year, goals tally (72-6) and won the last Hants & Dorset
Challenge Cup before the Associations split.
Woolston Works won the first ever Hampshire Senior Cup Final
in 1888 beating Winchester 2-0. There was some controversy that year concerning
Woolston's professional attitude, which was infamously referred to as "Kessons
Boots". Andover were beaten in an earlier round by Woolston in which a
Glasgow based player called J Kesson played a predominant part. Andover protested
that Kesson should be disqualified on the grounds of residency although he had
played for Woolston Works earlier that season, he had since eturned to Glasgow.
Woolston's appeal rested on the fact that Kesson had left a number of clothing
items at his lodgings at Woolston, and this should be interpreted as his intention
to return. The Hampshire FA upheld the appeal and allowed kesson to play.
Re-forming after World War 1 as Thornycrofts (Woolston), they
turned professional and were admitted to the Hampshire County League from 1920/21
to 1925/26. in 1920/21 Thornycrofts reached the 1st Round Proper of the FA Cup,
meeting First Division Burnley at Fratton Park and held them to a 0-0 draw before
losng 5-0 in the replay. Burnley were in the middle of a 30 match unbeaten run
and went on to win the First Division Championship that season.
Thornycrpfts Woolston re-formed in 1947 but were only able to
keep going until 1952. The Club re-formed again in 1960 and joined the Southampton
Junior League.
After several successful seasons Vospers were promoted to the
Hampshire League Division 3 in 1991. The following season they were promoted
to Division 2. In 1997/98 the Club finished runners up in Division 2 and won
the Hampshire Intermediate Cup. In 2001/02 Vospers won
the Southampton Senior Cup
The Club were re-named VT FC (after their parent company) in
2002/03 and the Clb finished runners up in the Southampton Senior Cup. 2003/04
saw VT FC win the Hampshire Premier Division gaining promotion to the Wessex
League and winners of the Southampton FA Senior Cup. In
2005/06 VT FC Reserves won the Southampton Senior Cup at the St Marys Stadium
which gave the Club their 3rd victory in 5 years.

CLUB HISTORY
Verwood is steeped in history. A noticeable spot for visitors is the
Monmouth Ash public house which is said to have been built on a site
where the Duke of Monmouth hid in a tree to avoid his pursuers. Can
we believe the rumour that he was the first referee to officiate at
a Verwood match?
The first written records of Verwood Town date back
to the early 1920s and a copy of the notice to the Dorset F.A. confirming
ground directions and club colurs indicate that we have a similar colour
scheme now.Until 1986 the club's home games were
played on the Recreation Ground except for a short period of time when
a piece of spare ground near Coronation Road was used. This coincided
with the club's best results, going unbeaten for two years.
According to long established club members and ex-players,
travelling in and around Dorset by steam train and changing behind hedges
was conducive to a good team spirit and offered different slants on
country life. During the war years, matches were organised against teams
from the Home Guard, West Moors Army Barracks, Woodlands Searchlights
but the team they enjoyed playing most was the Land Army!
Demob saw ex-players reunited and the club continued
its affiliation to Dorset bringing minor and junior trophies to the
village. This also reignited local hostilities in particular with Cranbourne.
One memory is of a particular game when Wimborne Police were called
to restrain Reverend Williams from striking the referee with his walking
stick.Moving from Dorset F.A. to Bournemouth F.A.
gave a chance to broaden horizons. The early 1960s saw some of the club
officials involved with Rossgarth, the village youth side. This link
has been maintained and strengthened so that a number of the first team
players have come through junior and local football to senior level.
The ambitious move to Potterne Park in 1986 together
with a strong Committee brought Hampshire League football to Verwood
in 1989 for the first time in its 70 year history. High league positions
over the next three years culminated in promotion to Hamshire League
Division 1 in 1993. It was during this period that Verwood grew from
a village to a town and a new name, Verwood Town Football Club was established. In
2004/5 the Hampshire League amalgamated with the Sydenhams Wessex League
and Verwood were placed in Division 3. Two busy seasons both on &
off the pitch involving the erection of two stands, pitch barrier and
hard standing and finishing in third position, led to the club being
promoted to the new Division 1 at the end of 2005/6. The club plans
to erect floodlights during 2006/7 to maintain its position in this
Division.
