Anstey Road Alton Hampshire GU34 2LS 01420 82465 ALTON TOWN - CLUB HISTORY The present Club was formed in 1990 when Alton's two Senior Clubs, Alton Town and Bass Alton, amalgamated. Alton Town had been fantastically successful, winning everything in Hampshire in the period from 1948-1958 including Hampshire Leagues Divisions 3,2 & 1(1948.1949 & 1958), the Hampshire Intermediate Cup in 1949, the Russell Cotes Cup also in 1949 and the Hampshire Senior Cup in 1958. Alton Town first joined the Hampshire League in 1947 and won Division 3 East in their first season. More success followed with the Division 2 title the following season together with the Russell Cotes Cup and Hampshire Intermediate Cup. Although they dropped to Division 2 for one season in 1954/55, they bounced back immediately and went on to win both the Division One Championship and Hampshire Senior Cup in 1957/58. They stayed in Division One until they left in 1973 to join the Athenian League Division Two which they won in the first year. After an initial period of success in that League the Club found itself unable to compete and dropped down to the Combined Counties League before returning to the Hampshire League in 1984, starting at the bottom in Division Three. They found themselves in Divison Two in 1986/87 after winning the third Division title for the third time. Bass Alton started life as Courage & Company (Alton) FC and joined the Hampshire League in 1928/29. The following year they were in Division two and then won promotion to Division One where they stayed until being relegated to Division two in 1938/39, just before the Club disbanded for the War. Courage rejoined the North Hants Division briefly in 1954/55 before begining their longest spell in the County League in 1972/73 when they entered Division Four. Promoted to Division Three in 1975, they only lasted two years before dropping to Division Four again. In 1979/80 the Club changed its name to Bass Alton FC and its fortunes changed with the name as they won promotion in successive years to Division Three in 1979/80, to Division Two in 1980/81 and to division One, as Division two runners-up, at the end of the 1982/83 season after a 45 year absence. Since the amalgamation the Club has played in the Hampshire League and achieved promotion to the Wessex League by topping the Premier Division in 2002. AMESBURY TOWN F.C.

Division Two B.A.T. Sports F.C. are a football club based in Totton, Hampshire. The club was formed in 1925 as Bramtoco F.C., from the workforce of the British American Tobacco Company, and changed name to BAT Sports F.C. in 1971, the year they entered the Hampshire League. They progressed through the divisions of the Hampshire League, winning Division 3 in 1975, before becoming champions of the top division in both 1988 and 1989. The erection of floodlights, a small covered stand, and a permanent fixed barrier at their Southern Gardens ground enabled them to take promotion to the Wessex League where they have played their football since the 1989-90 season. The current seated stand was finished in 1995, and further covered standing area called the Nick Read Stand followed in 2004. They have been able to enter the F.A. Competitions since their elevation to the Wessex League, and although they have had relatively little success in the FA Cup, they have twice reached the 3rd round of the FA Vase. On the second of those occasions, they were drawn to play A.F.C. Wimbledon, and due to adverse weather and ground conditions had to switch the tie to their opponents ground but were rewarded with a club-record gate of 2,763. In the 2005-06 season, they were members of the Wessex League Division One (now the Premier Division), but have been forced to drop down to Wessex League Division Two for the new season due to the imminent loss of their Southern Gardens ground, their home since 1929. The Moon FC and Bemerton Athletic were by the end of 1988, looking for a fresh challenge therefore provisional talks of a merger were held with an entry into the Wessex League being the number one priority. This seemed the only logical step due to the close proximity of the grounds and the fact their players played for both Clubs on Saturdays and Sundays. It's history now that the talks were successful and Bemerton Heath Harlequins were formed and now operate from a magnificent clubhouse which was built by self help.Seven sides are now run, including four boys sides ranging from under 10 to under 16, and the under 18 youth team. Since the merger the men's 1st XI have established themselves as a major force in the Wessex League. Season 1992/93 being the most successful to date finishing 3rd in the League, winning the Wiltshire Senior Cup, completing a hat-trick of Hospital Cup Final victories and being the Wessex Leagues longest survivor in the FA Cup and FA Vase with two fabulous cup runs. The Boys Section have continued to win trophies, the under 13's
and the under 15's both won the Wiltshire Junior Cups in 1990/91 and League
Championships have followed in the Mid-Wilts and Tyro Leagues. Season
1996/97 saw the 2nd XI as Wessex League Combination League Champions and League
Cup Runners up. In 1997/98 the 1st XI lost in the final of the Wessex League
Cup and again finishing 5th in the League. In 1998/99 the Club reached the last
16 of the FA Vase for the first time in our short history. The Combination side
clinched the elusive Wessex Combination Cup at the fourth attempt. Our
Western Way ground continues to be improved, providing the best facilities in
the area, without doubt. 1999 saw the opening of the Moon Room. BLACKFIELD & LANGLEY F.C.

02380 893603 Founded in 1935 Blackfield & Langley FC has progressed from the Southampton Junior League, through the Senior and Hampshire League to the Wessex League. After playing in the war time Hythe and District League the Club joined the Southampton Junior League and in 1946 won the Division One title and appeared in the final of the Senior Cup losing to NDLC. However, the following season they won the Cup and were Southampton League West Champions. After this with progression in mind the Club applied to join the Hampshire League and when they were accepted made their debut in Division Three West in the 1950/51 season. Although they won the title the following season, the Club did not move into Division Two until 1956/57. They remained in this Division for the next four seasons but were relegated at the end of the 1959/60 season. Bad fortune lasted for 15 years as the Club dropped into Division Four, were promoted in 1974/75 after finishing third but dropped back again in 1979/80. Then in 1981/82 the Hampshire League re-organised and Division Four was swallowed up by Division Three and as runners-up promotion was secured to Division Two. After three seasons in Division Two, promotion was gained to the top Division, overhauling run away leaders Locks Heath, with a last match win at Cowes. In the first season in the top flight the Club finished a creditable tenth. In the following seasons the Club established itself as one of the most consistent teams n the League with eleven top ten finishes including, three second places and then won the elusive Championship in 1997/98. With the establishment of the Wessex League in 1986/87 Blackfield & Langley recognised that to compete against the best in local football the long term aim had to be elevation to the new League. With the emphasis for entry into the League being on facilities as much as ability on the pitch negotiations were opened with Fawley District Council for a long lease on the ground which gave the Club the necessary security to develop it to the required standard. The pitch at Gang Warily was identified and the Council provided a playing surface that is the envy of many teams. The Chairman at the time, Hans McDonald, his sucessor Ian Hoare and an enthusiastic Committee set about bringing the ground up to standard. The best opportunity came in the Championship year 1997/98 but the funds ran out to complete the ground improvements, so second placed Moneyfields were promoted. The Clubs' chance for promotion came two years later when a last match win over West Wight Mayflower earned them the third place required and the dream had been realised after 50 seasons of Hampshire League Football. After five years in Wessex Division One the Club were relegated to the newly formed Division Two. Over the years Blackfield & Langley has had their fair share of Cup success. In the 1980/90's the Club made six appearances at The Dell in the Southampton Senior Cup to add to the two in the 1940's, ending up as winners in four of them. The last success in 1998 producing a League and Cup double. In the 2000 final the Club suffered the agony of losing 2-1 in a replay to AC Delco after a power failure lead to the abandonment of the first game with 15 minutes to go and with a 2-0 lead. The Club were losing finalists in the Russell Cotes Cup in 1986, the Hampshire Youth League Cup in 1991 and the Hampshire Youth Floodlit Final in 1998. The Club had two firsts in the season 2004-05 when they became only the second Club in Hampshire football to be awarded the FA Adult Standard Charter and the first Ladies team was started in the Hampshire Ladies County League. Season 2004/05 saw us compete at Sydenhams Wessex League level for the first time. We started poorly and saw the manager leave midway through but, with Nigel Lights guidance, and Dean Higgins respected leadership, we ultimately won the inaugural Division 3 Championship! Then, last season we repeated our 2003/04 Hampshire Intermediate Cup success, beating West Wight 2-1 (Rich Lang & Dean Higgins).Seeds sown in the late 19th Century were replanted in 1956 ~ with the Banford family (a name synonymous with the club) much to the fore ~ and they have blossomed over the last 20-odd years. Although founded as a Saturday club, CCFC has cause to thank their Sunday wing which provided the foundation for a remarkable rise through the leagues during the late 1980s early 1990s. Competing within the Eastleigh and Southampton Football Leagues honours were sparse with just the Eastleigh Benevolent Cup and Southampton Junior Division 4 title jostling for space in the trophy cabinet! However, the decision to field a Sunday side ~ 1973 to 1983 ~ eventually provided glorious repercussions. An incredible haul of 24 Sunday league and cup trophys came under the expert managerial guidance of Ron Shaw and Mick Geddes before The force switched to CCFC Saturday football and rapid progression followed. Our journey from Soton Junior League Division Two to Hampshire League Division 1 took just six years guided by Ron Shaw, Chris and Ray Light, Rocky Garrett and Ken Brady (amongst others). Keith Tollervey and Dave Hadfield led Common to its first Hampshire League championship, with Andy Long as captain, in 1991/92. A second title followed in 1995/96 (Steve Franklin & Barry Cox), sandwiching our 93/94 Southampton Senior Cup success. Dave Hadfield and Keith Dumper preceded Steve Muddy Waters who took the helm and elusive success was registered again, the Andover Senior Cup in 2003. Dave Riddell took Muddys squad to 2003/04 glory but he left midway through 2004/05. Meanwhile, having moved into Hampshire League (Combination) football Common Reserves took up the initiative shown by our 1st Team as, under successive managers ~ Kevin Dixon, Barry Cox, Tony Mucci, Steve Waters, Paul Allen and Elliott Costick, ~ we secured four Hampshire Combination Titles and the Trophyman Hampshire League Combination Cup twice in the period 1998 - 2004. Last term our Reserves reach the Final of the North Hants Senior Cup (term a club first) before Andover prevailed. This season Paul Gilbert steps into the Reserve team managerial breach Having enjoyed success and progression from previous Youth initiatives Colden Common FC has, again through its Under 16 and 18 sides - profited in the form of excellent players coming through the ranks to boost still further an excellent senior squad. Meanwhile Common Veterans continue to show The Club in the right light while gathering more and more members as the years go by. Our home ground (lovingly tended by Eric Laversuch and his band) is the envy of most so it will be a wrench when we have to leave to progress. Any small club needs a sound back-room and we are indeed fortunate to have an outstanding committee and loyal sponsors ~ H.J.DUNFORD & SON (Motors) LTD in particular ~ as well as many players who show CCFC the commitment and loyalty much respected around the County. Behind the scenes the likes of Jack and Cliff Banford, Eric Laversuch, Janet Lissenden, Ian Sreele, to name but a few, have all given, or still give, tirelessly to The Common Cause to help make The Friendly Club, Colden Common FC,. Originally formed as Farnborough Covenanters FC in 1967 by Keith Elliott of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Sand Hill, Hawley Estate, the Club was entered into the Woking and District League. By 1981 the team had become two teams and had progressed through to the top Division winning the Southern Railwayman's Orphanage Cup on the way. The Club's current President,Chairman and Secretary joined in 1974/75. At the end of this period the Club became separate from the Church Youth Group it came from and changed its name to its nickname 'Covies'. The need to progress took the Club into the next League up where they went into the Surrey Intermediate League (Western) where they competed for nine years gaining promotion to the top Division of both the first and reserve sections and coming runners up in three cups. The Club has lead a bit of a nomadic existence. In their early years they played at Knellwood, known better by some as King George V playing fields. In their Surrey Intermediate days the Club played at Cove Green and then at Queens Road in North Camp for around 10 years, the former home of Farnborough Town FC. The Club joined the Hampshire League in 1991 and after an initial period of struggle we established ourselves as a County League side. Farnborough Gate, Ringwood Road was the next home from 1998 till early 2005 and this venue served the Club well over its most successful period. We moved to our present home, the Cody Sports and Social Club, Farnborough on 11th February 2005 and look forward to developing this new home to meet the demands of senior football. After several very successful seasons in the Hampshire League, in 2004 the Hampshire League merged with the Wessex League and North End moved over from Hampshire League Division One to the newly formed Wessex League Division Three. In 2005 North End gained promotion to Division Two of the Wessex League (now known as Division One), Step 6 in the National Pyramid and the season culminated in us winning the 'elusive' Hampshire Intermediate Cup against fellow Division Three side Otterbourne. 02392 583986 (Club) 02392 514042 (Office) For their second season, the club was accepted into the Hampshire League and won the Division 1 title at its first attempt. This feat was nor repeated for 31 seasons despite being a major force in Hampshire football during that period. After winning successive Hampshire League titles in 1976/7 and 1977/8, Gosport were elected to the Southern Football League. In the first 4 seasons, the club never finished outside the top four and when the League restructured for the start of 1982/3, Gosport were placed in the Premier Division. Two years later Gosport lost their Premier Division status and were relegated to the Southern Division. However the team bounced straight back the following season with an incredible run of 16 wins in the final 19 games. In the final match they needed to win to secure promotion and they demolished Salisbury City by 5-0 in front of over 1500 spectators. In 1987/8 relegation threatened but a run to the Final of the Hampshire Senior Cup lifted spirits. After winning the Final at The Dell, beating Farnborough Town, the team put together a good run of league results and relegation was averted. The club enjoyed its highest ever finish in 1988/9 finishing 7th in the Premier Division. However a mass exodus of players and change of management saw the club relegated to the Southern Division at the end of the next season and 2 years later they were relegated again to the Sydenhams Wessex League. After relegation the then Chairman, Ian Hay, appointed Roger Sherwood as Manager. The club had three good seasons under Sherwood but the only trophy win was the Wessex League Cup in 1992/3. After Sherwood's departure at the start of the 1995/96 season, the Management Committee undertook a review of the Club's policies. It was decided to commence a period of financial consolidation and re-structuring. Three former Gosport players (John Hawes, Dave Pitt and Barry Cook) took up the running of the team with a new emphasis on forming a team of locally based players and developing an extensive youth policy. In 1997, Boro' approached Gomer Football Club, a successful youth club to form an affiliation. Not only did it given the senior club the ability to tap into local talent as it emerges through the ranks, but it also gives boys the opportunity to aim for a higher standard of football than they might normally achieve when youth football ended. Nevertheless, Boro's position in the Sydenhams Wessex League continued to deteriorate. Dave Pitt and Barry Cook resigned in October 1999 after a particularly difficult start to the season. John Hawes became Chairman of the Club but resigned from that position after one year to return to his coaching role.During this period, Ian Hay restructured the Club's finances and implemented a new and relatively unique Trustee Scheme which it is hoped will give Gosport Borough a firm financial base for the future. Dave Taviner (another former player) took over as Caretaker Manager until former Reserve Manager Mick Marsh was appointed as the new First Team Manager in December 1999. At the start of the 2000/01 season, Vice-Chairman John Stimpson was elected to the Chairmanship of the Club. He immediately agreed with Mick Marsh that the Club should continue to develop young local players and also look to include a mix of a few more experienced players in the First Team. Marsh, along with his assistant Gary Lee had five seasons at the helm. In that period the Club's gradual decline was halted and Boro' were once again heading in the right direction. In Marsh's five seasons the club finished in the top four on four occasions and reached the quarter-finals of the FA Vase in 2003/04. With Marsh retiring from the game at the end of the 2004/05 season to move to Spain, the club appointed John Robson his successor but Robson's tenure only lasted a few months and in December 2005 the Club appointed Alex Pike as first team manager. Alex has the honour of being the Wessex League's most successful manager having won league and league cup honours on several occasions with his teams and also winning the FA Vase with Wimborne Town in 1992.
